Finally cured the ant problem that persisted with every other "ant guard" I tried. Just be aware that it does NOT look like the photo. It is red plastic, not some classier clear or silver.Jan, Wed Jul 15, 2015

Far superiior to the water moats I have used in the past, and no chemicals. Just be really careful to make sure that the vaseline is FAR INSIDE the bell so the little wings don't get stuck. Enjoy my ant free feeder!Ritamary, Wed May 08, 2013

I have used these for years and they have kept the ants off of my nectar feeders. I intend to get a couple more to make sure that I have reserves. I recently bought a little Perky Pet unit but I intend on returning. It has noxious chemicals in it and I see no need when this bell works for me. It works ! It is the best ant guard out there. I use vaseline on it, but am careful to make sure it is towards the inside upper top half of the unit .. to make sure a hummingbird would not be able to come
in contact with it. Again, it's the best!
